History of Rowing in Cork Harbour

In 1859, The Cork Harbour Rowing Club was founded in Glenbrook, Passage West. In 1860, they held their inaugural regatta which saw crews from London and Glasgow complete for the title.

The club was highly competitive and took home a large number of tittles over the years including tittles from the Queenstown regatta, Monkstown Regatta and RCYC regattas. The club did not compete in any regatta in 1878 which was the 1st time the club did not compete. After this , years of rowing where intertwined with successful races before finally petering out out in 1914.

The Club was revived again in 1926 and once again became successful winning a number of prices at a variety of regattas
